Year of the Nurse and the Midwife 2020
2020-04-23
by Louise Wahlström
Nurses and midwives play a significant role in healthcare. They devote their lives caring for others and are often the first and only contact a patient has with the healthcare. This is how the World Health Organization, WHO, motivate the choice that 2020 is named the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.
To note that it is 200 years since Florence Nightingale was born, one of the founders of the modern nursing profession, it is fitting that 2020 is named the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. According to WHO, nine million more nurses and midwives will be needed if we are to meet their health goals by 2030. At the same time, we are today facing a healthcare system where the shortage of nurses is greater than ever.
The work that nurses and midwives do is crucial to the development of the healthcare. It is the largest care profession and their knowledge should be lifted. The Year of the Nurse and the Midwife create an opportunity to influence and highlight their health-promoting work.
Aurora teleQ for the nurse
With a shortage of staff and high accessibility requirements, it’s a stressful work environment for the healthcare staff. Aurora teleQ creates time to focus on other things at work, such as giving advice by phone, video or chat and also time for documentation. Less stress at work and more time to care for patients create both a better work environment and more satisfied patients.
